Reflective journaling is the life-transforming practice of writing and analyzing your daily experiences to initiate a structured process of personal, professional, social, and financial growth.
For me, I started doing reflective journaling in 2021, May, and here is what genuinely changed in me during the past 5 years:
1. I feel immensely confident. My thoughts of myself have become way more positive, kinder, and loving. I feel that I accept all the parts of me, irregardless of how they are labeled.
2. I have way more self-awareness, emotional intelligence and maturity. I'm a man, yet I find it so easy to talk and acknowledge my emotions when I feel them. In fact, I even process them faster and go through my day as if nothing truly happened because the emotion disappears after I acknowledge it.
3. I actually feel more resilient. Failures do not really stop me anymore. I fail once, I fail twice, yet I still get back up for the third attempt with a conviction like I've never failed before. It's nuts, yet it's so true and interesting.
4. It's become way easier to create, maintain, and deepened friendships and intimate relationships. In fact, throughout the years, I approached many people in cafes and other places. Some of whom are still my friends to this day. I've also found love, and I'm still in it. This is all guided by the awareness resulted from reflective journaling.
5. I feel more of a proactive leader. I take actions towards what makes me better. And I have also noticed that I have more critical thinking now! If people do a certain thing, I don't do it just because they do even when peer pressured. Not at all! This has made me steadfast on and driven by my own true values and beliefs.
6. I dream big, and I know that I can technically achieve it irregardless of anything else. What if I fail? What's the big deal, disappointed for a day, reflecting in the other to gain insight, and starting fresh in the third! 🔥
I can go on and on, but I don't wanna make this a blog or something. If you are interested to read more about the deep impact of reflective journaling, you can either check this list of resources or ask AI about the impact of reflective journaling.
